I just started writing a script for a “Blender Basics” video tutorial. Originally I wasn’t going to cover basics, but after deep reflection and much inner turmoil I decided to start at the beginning…
Admittedly there are plenty of Blender basics resources out there (see Resources) so we’ll be adding to this collection. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.
I’m hoping to be somewhat original, maybe doing the whole thing like a radio show. Of course, the more snazzy I try to be, the more time it will take, meaning fewer videos with more time between them; but if I can pull off just a teeny bit of originality and slickness, it will make the whole thing more interesting and entertaining for everyone.
Now if it turns out that this first video puts you to sleep, try not to be too hard on me. I’m generally less clever and creative than I give myself credit for.
If I can get this done, it will be one more thumb in the eye of The Man. You can be certain that The Man is out there somewhere, but he’s not at Blender Underground.

This script is already getting HUGE and I haven’t even covered edit mode yet. I’m going to make it two parts, something like Blender Basics Parts 1 and 2. I think the end result will be better if I finish the entire script for both parts before recording part 1, so that’s what I’m going for.

OK the script keeps getting bigger. It’s like SubSurf when you crank the levels up to 5 or more. I have over 10,000 words of script for both parts 1 and 2. I want to include materials and rendering, so I may indeed be looking at a part 3. Sheesh.

Apollos. I want to send you an email, but I can’t see a contact link anywhere. Can you send me a mail please?
