Reynard, that's exactly it. It's a bug that's fixed with 2.45. You must have a build with the bug fixed. The way you describe it is the way I expected it to work. WHYYYYYY!!!!! :D

Apollos, Duke,

I have just noticed that I am using version 244.1 (green box on menu bar).

I can select and move any item in the Oops window. Pressing the A key in the Oops window deselects the item. I don't have to go anywhere near the 3d view to do anything. In fact when doing a shift space in the Oops window I just don't need the 3D view.

With nothing selected, repeated pressing the A key in the Oops window selects and deselects all items.

Am I doing something wrong or have they bug fixed something here.

There's enough UV mapping tutorials allready, what these tuts really need to do, is, as picartj said, "to “glue” together all the books and articles". (that's a difficult sentence!)

yoyo, welcome to Blender Underground! 8)

I'm sure you're not alone in wanting Part 4 to be about materials. I expect others to express some level of disappointment until they're finished working through the Part 4 broadcast.

When trying to teach the use of an application from the ground up, at some point the viewer needs to be familiarized with some of the mechanics, to make learning more advanced features of the program easier. I decided this segment would best be presented before materials, because materials is a big subject and is likely to cause some confusion (for myself as well as others.) ;-)

I'm glad you're looking forward to Part 4; I'm looking forward to finishing it and working toward Part 5, which will finally bring the long-awaited materials tutorial!

Thanks for dropping by and leaving your comments, they are appreciated.

picartj, welcome to Blender Underground!

Thanks. I find it interesting that the tutorials are helpful even for those who have used other materials.

BTW the plan for Part 5 is materials; and if it fits, basic UV mapping. After that I still need to cover more nuts and bolts, and lighting and rendering. I think basic object animation might even be in order to round out the basics series. That still leaves things like curves with no place to fit right now. I'll sort it all out somehow.
