Rope Tutorial Image

There are some useful and often enigmatic tools in Blender, and The Big Dave C has managed to demystify two of them: Spin Dup and the Screw tool; and he does it quite well. The video is called Build a Rope with the Screw Tool and you can find it on his website in the Blender 3D section

This video is ideal for anyone looking to understand practical uses for two of Blender’s mesh tools. The pace of instruction is excellent; and when you’re done following along you’ll have accomplished a rather difficult task with a very effective technique.

For those who don’t know DaveC, he’s a Blender Underground Agent and a moderator on our forums; so his excellent help and advice for Blender users is certainly not limited to this video. Congratulations, Big Dave, on a terrific and useful video tutorial for Blender! 8)

Nice work Dave! Another great tutorial maker! Are you the “special tools” agent? ;-)

    What’s next?!

I recommend to download the AVI file (down the page) for the best enjoyment.

    Thanks, Paco.

I think I may look into the less well documented tools and see what I can do with them. Good idea.

    Dave,

I think that your (first) tutorial was a very good complement to Apollos’s Blender basics anthology. You guys have already covered a lot a material with great professionalism.
I can’t wait to see what’s next from Blender Underground! But if there’s are more agents working on other topics for tutorials, I may not be able to keep the pace…! Hi, hi…

This one is a great tutorial. One test I often do for tutorial greatness is this.. Can I do it on my own with out the tut. I had this one down quickly and fluently enough that I could show my wife easily.

I’d give this a 9/10 as it lacks some witty banter. =)

I finally got a stable enough system to really play with this tutorial. It flows very well. I was able to follow (more or less) what you were doing which is a freightening thought in itself :-)

    Good tutorial Dave.
