Can someone point me to the thread of the forum where this was being discussed please? Was there a work in progress thread, I really like them?

I did a forum search but came up blank, it says at the top of the article "We’ve been following its progress for some time on the forums" so there must be somthing on there about it.

Thanks

Could it be a dual personality? That would be a scary thought.

Apparently we have dueling Jimmies at Blender Underground. Who would've guessed?

Thank you Apollos! Yes I would say this had a very steep leaning curve but for me that is the best way for me to learn. I tried to take advantage of everything Blender had to offer. I even used Material Nodes on a few parts. But I do want to point out that this wouldn't have been possible without the help of Apollos and the rest of the Blender Underground. So thank you to everyone that helped make this happen!

Will the real Jimmie please stand up.

Moz, I'll try to answer for Coyabbit: I think that this model employed so many elements that it represents a steep learning curve, but with a huge payoff as far as learning Blender's ins and outs (and what-have-yous).

All the joints in the model articulate properly -- the hydraulics all articulate as expected, with the use of constraints; the hoses employ curves, with their vertices "hooked" to the frame, joints, and limbs for proper movement; it's rigged and IK driven for the leg motion; it has an animated walk cycle, and makes use of a particle system. I'm probably leaving something out. ;-)

It's really quite a thing! :o

Wow, and that's the result of 6 months with Blender - from tin can to drone, Very Impressive! Did you find the learning curve steep?
