My name is Apollos (birth date: blender 2.43) and I am dedicating this site to discussion and tutorials for Blender and other associated applications — out from underneath the watchful eye of The Man.
When I first downloaded Blender I was skeptical about how capable and stable it would be. I was greatly surprised to find in Blender a powerful and fully-featured, not to mention active and regularly updated 3D application. Blender 3D is an open source program, it is completely free for personal and commercial use.
You might have heard some complaining about Blender’s interface — and yes, there are some counterintuitive things going on here and there — but Blender’s interface is actually well designed and well thought out, despite a few limitations. Those who have stuck with Blender long enough to get over the hump (and that’s not very long at all) have discovered a powerful and useful, full-featured 3D program.
Blender also has a wealth of community support. There are virtually countless written tutorials and video tutorials available all over the net. Blender Underground features it’s own beginner video tutorial series, available here: Blender Video Tutorial List. I also highly recommend exploring other materials and tutorials. You can find a host of links at Blender Underground’s Resources Page.
Welcome to Blender, and Welcome to Blender Underground.
