I’ve been toying with Blender’s particle system and this is what I came up with. It makes use of dupliverts and xsort, and a wind effector.

UPDATE: I added another version of the effect…

Merry Christmas

Blender Underground wishes its visitors the Merriest of Christmases for this 2007 Christmas season! (As a side note, the Panther Cannon Walker below apparently uses Christmas colors, red and green, for its detection eye of danger!)

The above model was created by Blender Underground Agent Coyabbit, and was impressive enough that I wanted to share it with the blog. We’ve been following its progress for some time on the forums. This script hasn’t gone the way I planned it, but I think I have a good result. The Part 3 script has come in at around 8,500 words, a real monster. I’m guessing it will turn out around 80 minutes of finished tutorial, but I hope I can keep it under that number. Whether or not I am able, I think the result will be good…

Needless to say, Blender Basics Part 3 is taking longer than I wanted it to, but such is the way of things. I started out my Part 3 script with the misconception that I could squeeze a segment on Object Data and the OOPS schematic into the beginning of a tutorial on mesh editing. These things never work out. I realized this when the Object Data script was approaching 4,000 words, which is roughly 40 minutes of tutorial, depending on the pace…
