Hey guys I found this free Blender Basics book you can grab the whole thing or individual chapters... worth a look I think.

I'm looking at it now it looks good. There are a couple of minor errors in it based on old Blender behavior that has been superseded. For example, one place he says:

Why are all the meshes joined? Remeber that whenever you create something new, it enters your scene in Edit Mode.


That behavior isn't true anymore since Blender 2.47 I think (his book is supposed to be for 2.49 but to date there isn't a 2.49 unless he is talking about SVN). Object Mode is the default for newly added objects which requires you to TAB into edit mode to edit. The setting can be found in preferences.
