I was messing around last night and found this:
Create a flat grid of (say) 10 x 10 verts.
Make sure you are in Edit mode with the grid selected.

Now go to the object menu>scripts>Discombobulator and hit the "Discombobulate" button.
This is what you get :

Instant cityscape !
By chopping out buildings to get streets you could get quite a realistic city

You could also use it for interesting surface effects as in Death Star surface or other Sci-fi type encrusting.

Hope you find this useful!

If you use a segmented cube, it can also make fairly decent space-ship type things.

I didn't think of using it for a city, though. That's a good idea.

In tandom with the Discombobulator, if you look in the lower left hand corner of the 3D viewer, you will find the Select > Random menus. Used in Face Select, in Edit mode, you can randomly select a percentage of the faces to discombobulate. Then in the Discombobulator script window, click on the button Select Faces Only to affect only those faces. 8)

Select the plane, in edit mode, select the "MainSides" material and Discombobulate to taste. Roads already included. Now we just need some material gurus to take a hold of this and give it some realistic materials.
