Blender Underground

I am trying to edit animation into a video with blender. So far I have been successful, because I have put the animation into the video using the node editor and alpha over. It seemed like everything was working fine, but I can only watch the video frame by frame, and the sound is gone. Whenever I tried to render it thinking that once I did that it would fix everything, all I got was a black screen. I am not sure why it is doing this but any suggestions on how to solve the problem would be awesome and greatly appreciated.

I'm working frantically to try to catch up on an enforced break from blender, so bear with me, Shaddownigh, but while it's a bit quiet around here I wonder if I might be able to help you work around your problem.
I've been diving head first into the nodes side of things and I think I love it , but I have had similar results to yours with the black screen thing. I wish I'd written down what I did, but just checking and re-checking EVERYTHING for me did get my render a bit better. My silliest problem has been caused by not rendering each layer [via the layers panel under the Render button, right hand side].
I haven't got as far as applying sound yet.
I'm probably WAY behind you with experience, but maybe it's a "did you check the fuse" situation?


I can't wait for the Big Guys to get back from their holidays, or wherever they are, but until they do we should still try to get things done by ourselves

In case you're still about, ShaddowNigh, I've found a good series of tutorials by Neal Hirsig [I've put links as an update in my own question], and I'm hoping he gets to the part where renders go wrong, so if you still haven't sorted out your black renders yet, I may have some news eventually.....

Not sure if you're still looking here, but I just found this:

“I have a Nvidia card. I render using CUDA and all fine. If I switch to use OpenCL it renders black.”
