Here it's going to be -35° without windchill tonight....And this is Wyoming. Going by what it's been this afternoon, I expect around 15-25 gusting to 35mph tonight. That's also what NOAA says, but what does he know? :?
Feels good by the fire, but it sure is nippy outside!

All that mess is missing us...Barely...But it is a balmy 52 degrees right now. Bit of rain which has me somewhat worried for flooding though. :?

Sunday we had 55 degree in town IIRC. Wyoming has some of the most extreme weather/temp swings in the US I believe. One time a few summers ago we had the temperature drop to 45ish from 95 in about 30 minutes. We have also had it rain at the neighboring ranch, and not on our. "No climate here, just weather" is what everyone says. Oh and did I mention, frost and snow are both possible in any month of the year. I've seen snow on 4th of July.

I heard a little speech the other day of a guy who has lived here for about 4 years. He said something along the lines of "When I moved here, I figured I was moving to a hellhole, and I was right. But it is slowly becoming a little less hell, and a little less hole." That was hilarious.

Snow day here; no school tomorrow. Right after we heard that, my roommate headed to the liquor store, and found out that the majority of the people had been there before him; school canceling blizzard notwithstanding. So I guess we really just need to have alcohol in class. Then everyone would show up, even if they canceled.

All this snow makes me miss Alaska. Of course, having lived up there, I have a different idea of what cold is than other people who live here (Pennsylvania) so they look at me weird when I'm shoveling snow in shorts and a t-shirt lol

We have a blizzard warning so my brother Jabhacksoul is outside looking for free Warcraft or Starcraft software. Meanwhile it is currently 17 F (-8 C) with a low around 6 F (-14 C) tomorrow night.

My school is closed for tomorrow, so I will be staying home. So I guess after I am done here I will go downstairs and play Wii with Mom.

heh, you're lucky pal, here we could have 2 feets of snow and there would still be school.

The best that could happen is that exams get postponed 30 minutes later.

Seems like winter is somewhat later in the US. We had our peak about a month ago, -15°C and about a foot snow. School was closed for a day or two because our teachers had problems getting to school and the buses weren't driving, either.

@Reverend: I know a guy like that, too :D He's always out there with t-shirt and jeans no matter the weather. Haven't seen him wearing a pullover or sweatshirt ever since I know him.

Funny part is, before I got stationed in Alaska, I got cold very easily. Then, while up there I had to spend an week outside in -60 degree F and it changed my concept of what cold is.

Here in PA, it very rarely gets any lower than 10F, therefore I don't get cold here.

Yeah, but you have it more humid than we do for example. 40% in the wintertime I believe, no? That's higher than our summer high here in WY. I lived in PA for a short while, don't miss it at all.

Day One - The second coming of the Ice Age.

JAB and I went out about 3am and shoveled snow in the lighting and thunder. We wore clothes unlike some people. By dawn you couldn't even tell we shoveled. The neighbor used his snowblower and cleared the walk but it is filled in since. Dad and I struck out for the store on foot at 8am and returned by noon. The store is only 1 mile, but the snow is so deep I can swim through it.

We returned from our walk exhausted and wet. Once it stops snowing we plan to shovel the driveway out but I am certain the school is closed tomorrow as well. If we can't get the KIA out on the road there isn't school anyways.

Wow, do you guys have one of those body carts they had during the bubonic plague in 1350? I read they would trundle through the streets picking up the bodies of the dead that people would leave out for them.

(Pardon my attempt at a joke, hope no one is offended)

I must be definitely getting old when I look back on school in Canton Ohio and can't seem to recall ANY school days off...

You know...Up hill in the snow up to my chest....Both ways....

Still, you kids got it easy these days. If you like days off for snow, then whatever you do don't go into Emergency Management like I did. They come and get you in a snow mobile if necessary....
