Has anyone used this program before? http://www.uvlayout.com/
Wondering if its easier than unwrapping in Blender. It says "In Minutes - Not Hours" so makes me wonder about this program.

Well, depending on what you do, using blender you can unwrap ina bout :

- 5 seconds : using automated UV techniques such as "Unwrap (smart projections)" or "lightmap UV pack" methods which usually give you a pretty good result automatically. (Specially smart projections)

- 1 - 10 minutes : if you are manually creating seams & doing some edits to UV layout.

... really, I don't think there is a need to spend 100$ on an external app for that, hell it might even be worst than doing it in blender. But I have not really looked this software through so I cannot judge.

I agree with Goliath, all you need to do is learn about seams and pinning.

Here is a tutorial to get you started. Ira Krakow had a nice youtube version of this same tutorial but I am not sure what happened to it.

Ya I was thinking the same thing but maybe this software will auto make seams at the best spots somehow. Wouldn't have a clue how exactly but ya. I still havn't had any very complex models for creating seams yet myself and I'm not having trouble myself at the moment but am just wondering about this software and if it could actually be better than Blenders.

Don't be too hard on him Goliath. They always make the programs sound like magic wands. I tried a few UV unwrappers myself. I still have "Lith Unwrap" on my PC and seldom if ever use it. I mainly installed it because it exports textures from so many games.

@evan3585: Give the program above a try (at least it is free) and then you will see that there is no point and click magic to these programs. If anything they are going to increase your work load just exporting and importing your models. I tried 3rd party tools to get an edge but Blender is a pretty well rounded all in one tool.

Sorry, I just don't want our good evan buddy spending 100 buck on something he can already do with blender rather than giving a donation to blender so that they can finish blender 2.5 and finally continue the work on blender 2.49b.

lol no I don't plan on buying this at all. Trust me I'm broke and would rather use blender:) The thing was it did make it sound like it would auto unwrap everything perfectly with no work at all pretty much and that made no sense to me. I've still got a lot to learn about unwrapping keep in mind.
I'm Mentioning this program to see what people thought about it but in no way was I going to buy it lol.
