my mesh would deform and scale sideways whenever i rotate my bone shape..... which should not happen because it should ROTATE*...
the rotation happens normally but it just scales the mesh along with rotating..........

think of it like rotating a bear 90 degrees... and the bear squashes into the width of the gingerbreadman while being rotated 90degrees, tats exaggerating but something like that...... seriously wth.......

my transform attributes tell me that the Mesh's Scale is still at X,1 Y,1 Z,1 so i haf no idea whats wrong.

if any1 has come across this problem with ur rigg before do tell me, or if any1 knows how to solve this. thanks.

Are you using a low poly model with subsurf modifier on?

I am assuming you are do the Burlap Bear Tutorial for 2.49 but in 2.57?

I ran into this myself and got a bit frustrated by it, no answer here. :(

woops just noticed i've been posting questions in the wrong part of the forum,

anyways i have figured out not really a solution, but sort of another route to this, thanks to the rigify system by Nathan Vegdahl, i replaced my rigg entirely with this awesome auto-rigg system and i can start animating my character. if any1 understands how he set up his rigg system, or has seen tutorials making similar riggs, hopefully introducing FK/IK blends to rigg, i would love to learn how to set them up myself, instead of depending on the auto-rigg.

also i would still like the solution to my problem if any1 knows, i posted this just to spread the word of how awesome rigify is ^^.
