Well yes this is an oldy but goldy here, and I feel that in order to review the next game in the series and then finally the latest game once it released, i should start at the beginning of this rather twisted "Family" game.

No this is not a Game for the whole family to enjoy... it not a party game like Mario party or the like. and it is definitely not for everyone. Heck I'd let my own kid watch slasher flick at age 4. but this one I'd still have him wait a few more years yet before letting him Fill the shows of the Point man. It violent, and it a Morbid and it so realistically paced and doesn't have the "Hollywood" ending.

In 2008, the US military formed a very special Branch to Assess and deal with things that can not, or in some cases, should not be explained in the Accepted general terms of Science. These things ranged form alien encounters, to supernatural ghost, Phantoms and powerful physics and results of other fringe science run a muck. So far a muck in fact that it requires a military styled response to deal with it.

in the year 2027, F.E.A.R is called in to deal with a growing situation. A powerful Physic Commanders and his Legion of Clone Troopers Has just started causing Havoc in a few locations. People have died and worse yet, it looks like it about to get much worse if something isn't done to stop this.

Enter F.E.A.R's newest "Point Man" with a sealed past, and super human reflexes thanks to the efforts of the very Corporation under attack by a bent Physic Commander and his clone troopers.

Worse yet, you are now finding your self haunted by the ghostly apparition of a little Girl in a red dress who seems to be able to tare the flesh off of anyone in her sight. anyone it seems but you. Why is that? and who is this Paxton Fettel character and why does he seem to be familiar with you in a way you don't fully understand yet?

This game was a head of it time when it it first came out in 6 years ago in 2005. and other then the Graphical side of it all. it still a bit ahead of it time now.

The game is really well done, these guys know how to creep the hell out of people. Is it the scariest game? no not actually. it is vary scary yes, but it more of a Mind F@&# sort of scare.

This game is very linear in the fact that there is one path from start to finish. there may be a couple forks in the road to get from one goal to the next but these all quickly converge at some point and back into the Same set in stone path. while this is not the most favorite things for everyone to hear. it does make a good point. everything meant to scare the willies out of you is placed in your path and so is all the stories narrative that happens around you. Like Half-Life. the story is happening to and around you rather then in cut scenes or from a third person perspective. there are only a few time where the view is ever broken from the player and that can be explained as Physic visions or maybe as repressed/erased memories coming back to the surface. it really unclear sometimes. after all your mind in under attack by a powerful Physic named Alma Wade and her son Paxton Fettel. and for some reason your the guy they don't seem to really want to kill? why not?

For it Dark and Creepy None Hollywood Story and it great game play feature i give FEAR a 9 out 0f 10...

I loved F.E.A.R when it came out, brilliant game, although I never got into the multi-player. Slide-kick-in-slow-motion-whilst shooting.... oh yeah.

Remember the bit where you are crawling through a vent and all of a sudden out of the steam comes Alma (the aforementioned ghostly girl) crawling on all fours..... ooo that creeped the heck out of me.

Oh, and Ninja I think you mean PSYCHIC Commander not Physic Commander.

F.E.A.R. was an above average game, but I always felt the "bullet time" hook was already taken by Max Payne long ago. So that only left the creepy random effects hook. I never cared much for the way the character moved "the bouncy walk". Otherwise a pretty good FPS for its time.
