I kind've figured as much. And you're right, the icon on my avatar does look like an imac laying on its screen.

BTW the second to the last image from the URL Hx told you about, is actually a video, in case its not running for you.

Yeah, I found out the same way. In fact, the last picture is supposed to be another one, but for some reason, it doesn't work. Its supposed smile then turn back to a normal face, like a film clip looping forward and backward. And I don't know how to get it to work.

yeah, i don't know about that last picture, it's not changing.

i do have a few questions about the tut though.

1) how do i load a refference picture

2) when i CRTL+LMB it does nothing. i see a sort of trace where my cursor went but when i let go of the lmb, nothing happens. :x

At the bottom of the 3D viewport, click the "View" button. The third item from the bottom on the popup menu says "Background Image . . .". Click it. A dialogue box should pop up. Click on the "Load" button. The viewprt should change to the file menu. Find your file and proceed as if you were loading a regular file.

1) The simpliest way to load them like they are in the tutorial is to split the view into front and side view and then pressing View ---> Background image and then load the images in both viewports. There are some restrictions in this though, if you change the view, they disappear, (but come back again when returning to the view) and they only show when the viewport is orthographic (as it is by default) but remember that actual photos are allways taken in perspective, so if you take your ref images yourself, for example when making a portrait, try to hold the camera as far as possible, and just zoom in as much as possible.

If you get your ref images from http://free-textures.got3d.com/natural/ ... index.html for example, you should bear this restriction of the perspective in mind.

Allseeingeyeoftheman, your new avatar looks pretty good, even without the other eye! :)

Your skintone looks pretty cool!

ok, i loaded the image, but how do i use the edgeloops or add the verts in?

Quote:
Now, following the next image EXACTLY, trace the main edgeloops using CRTL+LMB.

ctrl+lmb isn't doing anything, it's just tracing where i click and drag but not putting any verts in. :(

First select a vert, then press CTRL+LMB where you want to have your extrusion. This is almost exactly the same thing as extruding, it's just somewhat faster to do. Also if you have a mirror modifier and "do clipping" on (which you propably have when doing a face), you can't extrude from the vertex that is in the mirror axis to anywhere out of that mirror plane, but you can CTRL+LMB
