I'd say be creative. Some cool lighting might be interesting.

Perhaps a group of 4 smilies hangin out .. but then it would be cool to have a front view of each of them as well .. maybe in the lower section of the render?

DAZ 3D has a free emoticon guy... I've seen it.. messed with it.. and I will know if someone tries to sneak him in... *squinty eyes*

I vote for Mega-- the DAZ bunch that Darth mentions looks like cousins to the M&M characters:

Emotifolk seen here:
http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/emot ... ta=ab&_m=d

and their "cousins," the M's

[EDIT]
I just remembered the Blender Smileys, that I wish were mega...

enjoy-

This does look quite nice... erm I mean evil..., Unrealbeing!

Question: Is texturing allowed? Then one has to make just a textured sphere...
So I suggest to disallow excessive texturing (means almost everything through a texture),
some simple texturing is allowed for the eyes for example or the skin texture.
What do you think?

No, thats not what I intended... I think you can let them as they are, because 1) Darth hasn't made a comment on this (He is the one who makes the rules), 2) I think we would make an exception for you, because you've already done your entry and 3) The challenges primarily are a fun way to learn Blender... so at least you've learned something while doing them it is fine.

So don't worry.
The more entries are in there, the more fun we all have.
