One of the Blender magazines has a tut on how to do smoke using billboards and particles.

It's Issue 16 I think.

@steveCameron: I'm almost too embarrassed to show the centurion models close-up. I hadn't bothered to model these in any great detail so I used game-friendly, low-poly models to cut down on the render times. I used textures to fake detail in a lot of this model. I am hoping to revisit the MakeHuman tool again and work on a larger, more detailed centurion model. I guess it all depends how soon I get bored of this project and move on to something else!!

@Prometheus: Thanks for the image link man. Alas, even the mighty Roman Empire never really conquered the far Northern reaches of Scotland (too many wild and scary Celts going about!). So Emperor Hadrian and a bit later on, Antoninus Pius, built two huge great walls more or less dividing Britain and so kept their enemies at a controlled distance! So this fort would have been more likely in the border regions where there aren't any really big mountains. I'll be looking for flatter ground for my scenery ..... perhaps some smaller, rolling hills though ;-). Thanks for the thought though!

*is in shock at your knowledge of ancient rome and its outer reaches.* We need to collaborate on a battle, specifically one of the battles near northern Italy against Hanible. Maybe the one where he hides his whole army and crushes the romans into the marsh nearby.

I would like to ask your permission to reproduce this image in a booklet I am preparing on the archaeology of Abergavenny. Would this be OK?

I have sent charlie a pm to attract his attention, since he hasn't been around here for a long time.
I hope he will read this and reply to you soon. PS: Welcome aboard!
