Now I have always been a fan of Blenders interface, on how completely customizable it is, and how you can completely fit it to your needs.

Unfortunately, I am used to it now, and can't bear to change anything, because it will take time to adjust to. I know there are many advantages into "making blender your own", but I just have never bothered to try.

However, when 2.5 comes out, I think I am going to completely change everything before I even start modeling, so I don't get attached.

So, what do you think? Do you customize your blender, or is it still pretty much the same as when you downloaded it. If you have changed it, was it worth it? Making it your, unique, 3D workspace?

I'm pretty much going to change it so it resembles Cinema4D as closely as possible   !

I have highly customized my default blend file. I did check and to date, it still opens various blend files with the same settings that were saved in the blend. I really do wish they get away from that binary blend file. I hate getting a blend from someone only to find they use a funky layout. I spend a good deal of time cleaning that up that could go to better tasks.

I'm gonna be sure there's the biggest square 3D
window possible in my modeling setup :D

of course, I hope vertical menus will be better suited to... ...to be vertical :P

SHAME ON YOU PAL !!!

That's the worst doom that can be followed by any maniac of efficiency !

And I am a maniac of efficiency.

....and I never get used to any slower technique of doing things 8)

(btw : efficiency allow you to sleep & dream of nice babes longer  )

@Half god hero Penix1 :

loool,
To overcome that, I usually append all the scenes of a new file,
that may need correction, into my own default setup.

2 click & a dance on the table and it's done :D

& it let me many many more time for my more evil tasks.

GREEEEEEN TASKS !!!

Did you not see the little button? When you go to open, all you need to do, is click the button "Load UI", to deselect it, and then it stays the same, and you don't have to worry about someone else's "funky layout".

I genrally start with the default set-up and the customise it to my needs on the fly... so if i suddenly need a timeline i jsut spilt one it... and so on and so fourth... for a while i had a custom one that was split right down the middle so i could spreed blender across my 2 screens and have my options and stuff on one side and a massive 3d viewport on the other... but i actually work faster with blenders default then i did with all the menus on one side and a massive modeling space on the other... i mean you only really use one space at a time anyway so i just use ctrl+up alot and that gives pretty much the same affect but allows me to have a browser or msn open on the other window so i can distract myself or look for textures as i'm modeling

Yeah, I start with the default, and if I need an image, I will make an image window, I don't swap to the image set-up. However, I think it will be faster if I did.

Its just that I don't like their default setups and was too lazy to make my own, so now I just bring in what I need when I need it.

Ummm...No! I don't see that in my SVN 2.5. I'll look for it though since you mentioned it. If you owould be kind enough to give a screencap of where it is, I would appreciate it.

Still, I do wish they would make it editable outside of Blender making path changes possible although the image search is getting better.

That's not in 2.5 though (at least not the version I have here). Maybe they will put it in? I do see it in 2.49 so thanks for that! :D
