Actually, it is a fluid sim. May not be a pouring sim but still is a fluid sim. :D

It's fluid and it's simulated.

@MJE:
It isn't done with the fluid simulator but what it is is:
Fluid
Simulated
INCREDIBLY GOOD

:D

@ MJE:
That is really awesome and I agree with everyone else, I don't think you cheated at all.

I seem to be having a problem with boundry of an obstacle. I have a inflow object that is supposed to pour onto a obstacle object that is then to overflow/pour into another obstacle object and continue repeating. The problem is that the fluid isn't overflowing/pouring like I would like it to. The water is going through the object in places. Here is a blend file to check settings

From what i looked at, not all the objects are set as obstacles. A couple of rocks near the center and one near the edge. I dunno about the rest however.

I fear your problem is a combination of the fluid sim resolution being too low and the obstacles being too thin. You need a resolution of at least 100 for the domain. If that doesn't stop the fluid bleeding through the leaves, try making the leaves a little thicker. And maybe apply the subsurf modifiers.

I've tried with resolution of 125 for fluid with no luck, but i'll try to make leaves bigger.

question with the subsurf mod. would it make a difference if it was enabled during interative display, and also, would it make a difference if i the modifier was on both the leaf and the fuild, as opposed to just being on one or the other?

The subsurf modifier on the actual liquid has no effect on the calculations of the simulator. But having subsurf on obstacles that isn't actually applied before you run the simulation, I have found in the past, causes the simulated fluid to float above the obstacles. I do not know if this still holds true.

Let us know if making the leaves thicker helps at all.

baking thicker leaves. also noticed that some of my normals were messed up.... so hopefully that fixes it :D

(Edit)
just looking at the baking... looks like it's working. now all i have to do is duplicate this working leaf and aim them 8)
