This is my
400th posting here on the old Blender Underground. I am going to take a moment to explain what DST is and the rant about why it should end... FOREVER.
It was first brought up in 1895 by George Vernon Hudson. The goal of DST was to reduce evening usage of incandescent lighting, formerly a primary use of electricity. Although much earlier, Benjamin Franklin, who said, "Early to bed, and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise," wrote a letter suggesting that Paris could save money on candles by rising earlier to use morning sunlight.
So there you have it. Save candle wax or 1 hour of electric... that is a load of
cow -beep-!
It complicates timekeeping, and can disrupt meetings, travel, billing, record keeping, medical devices, public safety, heavy equipment, and sleep patterns. Bus, Aircraft, and Train schedules are virtually ruined by DST. Here is the US we have Wal-Mart and other 24/7 stores burning lights ALL DAY LONG! So tell me how that saves power? One person suggested to me this very week, that DST was for the safety of children going to school in the dark. That couldn't be more WRONG, all last week I left the house at 7am sharp the sun was already up. Monday when I leave the house it will be very DARK since it will be in fact 6am and not 7am. So if anything the argument of child safety is in reverse.
If an employer asked you to come in an hour early in the Spring and leave an hour early, I sure you would agree to do this. So why mess with the clocks? Our world is very different from the days of Hudson and Franklin. Our technology that depend on so greatly can cause real physical harm. Medical devices have adverse reactions to DST that have harmed patients. Computer guided transports such as ships, aircraft, and trains could have similar issues. Some factories have reported work related accidents directly link to the time change.
Asia doesn't observe DST, this is just North America and Europe thing. Not even all the US observes it, Arizona, Hawaii, and the territories of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands remain on true time. So why get out of step with the rest of the world?
I am not dim witted, there are bigger issues in this vast world of ours. But I am not a mindless sheep or a slave to a clock. I have half a mind to show up at the regular time on Monday and tell them the time change is against my religion take me to court or talk to my ACLU lawyer.

Feel free to discuss you points of view but don't expect me to agree.
