I decided I better talk about this here, it is kind of a spin off from another thread that went from topic A to B to Q and is jumping all over the alphabet. :D

I was watching Nickelodeon's Barnyard... The male cow has utters. The animation is not that great to begin with but really hasn't anyone on the network noticed? My brother suggested that maybe they are not utters but a mutation. These shows are directed at kids younger than me.

Other than that, I see we have a new animated Star Warz released this past Friday. I can't actually comment on it (since I haven't seen it) I will wait until it hits the dollar movies at the local rental store. :P

Any comments about the computer animated movies you have seen?

The new star wars just got panned by the Guardian, the Times, the Sunday Times, the Observer and the Telegraph. Even though the trailer looked cool, I don't think I'll be filling Mr Lucas' coffers this time..

But I love decent cg animated movies. I watched Ratatouille on DVD recently and it has to be one of the best films I've ever seen. Having said that, there's nothing I dislike more than disappointingly below par CG in a live-action film - eg: the two matrix sequels, spiderman and a host of others.

I haven't seen the film, but I have seen the trailer: Appleseed: Ex Machina. It is a cartoon animated film, but for a cartoon, it really looks sleek. I'm not into cartoons per se, but viewing that trailer made me want to see the film. 8)

The year is 2131 AD, and the Earth is composed of 3 types of humanoids; cyborgs, humans, and genetically engineered humans called bioroids. They really get into the characters and you feel sad when something bad happens to them. The plot is decent but it is a basic crime drama. So that brings us to the CGI. What they did is a CGI combination with animated textures. I don't want to compare it to other styles. I would call it very unique. My brother has the movie on DVD, I think he paid about $10 or $12 for it. If you're into Japanese futuristic films the you will enjoy Appleseed.

I think the only manga I've watched is Vampire Hunters and Akira, but hasn't everyone watched Akira?

Oh and of course all those manga-inspired old kids cartoons: City of Gold, Belle and Sebastian, 80 Days Around the World.

Half the time I get annoyed when manga gets too stylised - but I love it when it's done "right" (ie when it has the budget of a medium-sized feature film).

You mean Anime not Manga. Sorry to correct you but as you can tell from my photo I am a serious otaku. :D For those of you unaware, Manga is Japanese comic books or full length novels done in comic book format. Anime is the way they say Animation or Cartoon. In my picture I am dressed up as a shinigami (Death God) which is the Japanese version of the grim reaper. The lovely lady next to me is a human from the series "Death Note" who found a shinigami note book. Writing a persons name in the book causes their death.

But back to Star Warz, my friend went to it last night and said "George Lucas has hit a new low." He went on to tell me more than I wanted to know.

I am not a Star Wars fan but I took my children to see the knew movie. my opinion is a cheaply done movie and dialog not worthy of adult viewing but very young children will watch it. So unless you are around 6 years old I dont think this is a movie for you. The movie quality is poor because they spent more time on the still life backgrounds and the people look like puppets on that old show Thunderbirds Go.

Diana14, you are getting very close to deleted. Is that SPAM I see you posting? My Derez trigger finger is itchy . . . .

I really get into Anime and my favourite would have to be Ghost In The Shell. Pixar has really raised the quality of computer animation and story so that now people expect much better from everyone else. can't say I mind that. :D

Leave it to a spammer to dig up my brother's 2 year old thread.

But since we are here...

I just watch "How to Train your Dragon" and the animation on that wasn't half bad. Realistic hair on all the models is something I like to see. None of that banana leaf hair.

I caught this one on HBO just last night.

Edit: When all else fails, fix it.
