If you can't be bothered to enter a name for your newly created material, click on the little button with an icon resembling a car next to the name field in the shading/materials panel on the Links and Pipelines tab. This is the 'auto' button which gets Blender to choose a name. It works for textures too.

I'd lov to upgrade this color name list.

I'm using it since I know blender and I
can tell that it's really cool to use
...but lack many many names for different tint


...but it's still a really cool function :wink:
