@penix1 Sorry to hear about your system, whats wrong with it? I have never tried Gentoo almost everything but lol must get round it been using just Arch and Ubuntu lately. Your very right the more the merrier as long as people are honest :D

I have an HP TX2z tablet PC. It is a screaming little machine when it works. It has a multitouch touchscreen and stylus input for writing / drawing. I have it tricked out with 4 GB ram, 500 GB internal drive and a 2 TB external USB drive. It is running Windows 7 right now (Gentoo is on my desktop server). The problem with the TX2 series is heat related. They tend to burn out the graphics chip and / or processor. This is the 3rd motherboard I have had in this machine including the one that came with it. This one has been modified with a better heat sink so it should, in theory, be the last one I hope. I am testing it thoroughly as we speak. Nothing like rendering large animations to test out if it is going to crap out on me. May as well do it in the warranty period.

@zyzzy No worries, every time I hear someone like yourself enjoying it, makes it all worth while :D As always anyway I can help you out with Blender-boot let me know, would you be interested in reviewing the Reviewers Preview version which is nearly ready many more added features changes etc.

@penix1 Thats a very cool laptop shame about its overheating issues, have you tried anything like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-F5L001er ... B000W0D15O ? Your definitely right about rendering being the best test, I think that is what has just killed my laptop, its in for repairs as its still under warranty thank god. Lucky enough I have this PC that my beyond awesome fiancée brought for me, otherwise I would be without a system (other than her laptop which doesn't like rendering but I still use it to test Blender-boot as its the only low end system I have access too). Just wondering with your HP if you use the touch screen for sculpting, textures or anything Blender related? I hope this new heat sink solves your problems, shame its ATI (I am in the same boat) otherwise you could try GPU cycles and it might be less harsh to your system.

@paperJon, Yeah I realised that it would take it back to alpha, but on the upside for mine at least it could be a relatively easy fix for the resolution problem... since I was planning from the start for BlenderBuntu to be based on 12.04.. but because it isnt released properly yet I opted for 11.10 as its well tested and stable.
Btw im currently working on a small OS based on puppy linux (but even smaller hehe) which is going on the same idea as chromeOS but based on firefox instead... FirePup :) its basicly an MFI (made for idiots) OS that even grandparents can use without constantly buggering up their pc's lol.

@zyzzy, Thank you mate :)

@Bizla Go for it if you want just be careful when purging files otherwise you might purge the resolution settings etc again. As for FirePup cool idea, though Google have changed their mind a bit with Chrome OS lately and decided they are adding a proper desktop to it because it does not work with just a browser. Then the other problem is if you use Firefox its not as well suited to web apps as Chrome is as a lot of the best ones are Google apps and Firefox does not have a store like Chrome does. If I was you I would stick with the idea but use Chromium and try and be better than chrome OS somehow. If you stick to Firefox you will need to add a metric ton of addons to give it anywhere near the function of Chrome when it comes to web appsand with out the web apps its not really worth doing a web focused distro. Download Joli OS they have done a great job at making a cloud based OS great for research into what you are doing.
