I have done loads of searching for a proper keyboard map for Blender. I finally settled on the following:

http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Reference/Hotkey_Map

I did something with a twist though. My desk has enough room on the slide in drawer where the keyboard sits for about 3 keyboards. I currently have only the keyboard and mouse hanging out there. I cut a piece of plexiglass to fit the drawer, printed those maps, placed them under the plexiglass above where my keyboard sits and now I have a ready guide at a glance (as well as some protection for the drawer).

Another way (not as convenient) to get a visual reference of hotkeys is, in Blender, go to the Help menu and select "Hotkey and MouseAction reference". It's a complete list of all shortcuts.

The problem I found with that is it is listed in alphabetical order by default. Sure, you can search for what you want but I find that tedious.

Yeah, exactly. That's what I meant about less convenient. Useful, though, cos it's all there.

Doesn't it figure...

You would ask me to take a photo when my desk looks like a bomb went off on it....

I will do it when I get it cleaned this weekend. I'm still recovering from my vacation trauma.

get a flexible keyboad cover. they use them in every mechanic shop because mechanics tend to have greasy hands. i seen on mechanic shop that just wrapped the keyboard tightly in a clear durable plastic bag and wrote the key shortcuts on the bag.

That's a fantastic low-tech solution! :o

During the space race, the US spent quite a bit of money developing a pen that could write reliably in zero gravity. We were eventually successful. The Soviet solution? They used a pencil. Sometimes the less elegant solutions are more obvious (or should be) and quite effective.

You gotta love the low tech solutions.

One of these days when I get a camera I'm going to photograph this setup. I got plexiglass and a dry erase marker that works wonders.... :)

SWEET! :D Just what I've been looking for, penix1. A picture is worth a thousand words and these are way better than having to use Blender's "Hotkey and Mouse Action reference". These will definitely come in handy. Just one question: Do you need to update these to reflect changes in Blender Version 2.46?

Thanks for this Penix. I've merged the two images and set it as my desktop background. (It gave me a reason for deleting the million or so old shortcuts I had on my desktop too ) :)

How do I properly clean my keyboard and mouse? My keyboard is dusty and so is my mouse. Any ways to clean it properly without taking out any keys and what not. Please, nothing like dump it in the tub of water.

Good, but I've always used my own memory for keys: I have other wares with zillions of keys to remember all up.
Y'know, I never thought about that before: my head is full of buttons ! :D
It never hurts to have a reference though.
They really are great when you've been away from the computer for a while (which for me doesn't happen often) :?:
Yes, alright, I'm a computer addict.
Just don't tell Computerholics Anonymous huh?
:D
