Recording for Part 4 was completed late last night. I’ll be editing the video in Premier Pro today, and most likely getting on with all the post tasks as well (titles, transitions, overlays) which are done in After Effects…
I’ve set up a (tentatively) temporary forum for those wanting to come hang out, get questions answered, make suggestions, etc. Don’t expect everything to work right away (and don’t expect forum beauty) but if you want to kick it with other Blender Underground associates, operatives, and agents, come on over and register.
The second chapter of Introducing Character Animation with Blender makes no apologies about jumping right in to character modeling. Similar to chapter 1, this chapter covers a multitude details with a minimum of fluff…
Here is a new poll at Blender Underground asking, “What do you want to see most in future tutorials?” Blender Underground is interested to know what its users think. Please remember, if you choose “Other,” post a comment on what that other thing is; it would be most appreciated…
Over at Blender Nation, Tim Formica has posted his interview with the founders of AnimationMentor.com that took place at SIGGRAPH 2007. This is a 2 part video interview with Bobby Beck and Carlos Baena of Pixar, and Shawn Kelly of ILM. For those who aren’t familiar with Animation Mentor, it is an online school for animation, and all of the instructors work in the industry at places like Pixar, Disney, ILM, Dreamworks, and PDI.

I thought about revising Part 3, and I also considered adding a section to the beginning of Part 4. What I settled on was producing a brief supplement to Part 3 itself. You can download it here.
Many thanks to Agent DaveC, who took the time to go through the tutorial and make several key observations. Although he thought his feedback might be interpreted as criticism, it was greatly appreciated, and was the main impetus behind this addition to the Blender Basics collection…
Another Blender Basics tutorial has slipped right under the nose of The Man: Blender Basics Part 3 is live and available for download. Here are links for Part 1 and Part 2 as well…
Recording and editing is finished for Blender Basics Part 3, and all that remains is adding keystroke and callout overlays; I’m doing that right now. I’d almost rather get 39 lashes than suffer through these every time. Okay, not really, but maybe every other time…
This script hasn’t gone the way I planned it, but I think I have a good result. The Part 3 script has come in at around 8,500 words, a real monster. I’m guessing it will turn out around 80 minutes of finished tutorial, but I hope I can keep it under that number. Whether or not I am able, I think the result will be good…
